Yoko has a strong interest in art since young. She adores mediums such as paper, pen, charcoal and performance art. Yoko holds a Master of Art Therapy from LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore, a Diploma of Fine Art (Western Painting) from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, and a Master of Architecture
from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Yoko is the award-recipient of The most promising artist of the year, emerging artist (Singapore) from the Painting of the Year Competition 2016 by UOB, among other awards. Her artworks have been exhibited in Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, and The Netherlands. Yoko’s love for art therapy was seeded from her volunteer work for Childrens’ Cancer Foundation since she moved to Singapore in 2013 and had a career shift from architect to artist. Currently Yoko is practising as an Art Therapist in the Institute of Mental Health Singapore for people with mood disorders. She had experience working with populations with complex trauma, neurodivergent needs, chronic illness, physical disabilities, vulnerable communities including women and children in shelter, inmates and migrant workers. She had served various organizations in different roles as art therapist, programme manager, arts educator and
community artist including The Red Pencil (Singapore), Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore University of Social Sciences, Thye Hwa Kwan Home for Disabled @Sembawang, ART:DIS, Pathlight School, Melbourne Specialist International School, Children’s Cancer Foundation, National Gallery Singapore, National Library, MOE, and UOB.
