Finger painting 指画 is a unique Chinese art form, originating in the Tang Dynasty, where artists use fingers, nails, and palms to apply ink or color to paper or silk. It yields a distinct, expressive style with bold strokes, fluid textures, and high contrast, often capturing a "splendid and energetic" quality that distinguishes it from brush painting.
Dr Tan Ching Yam 陈清业博士 is one of the few local artists who is still actively practising traditional Chinese finger painting. This work was created during a live demonstration on national television
