The Chinese idiom 质朴无华 means "simple and unadorned" or "plain and unostentatious." Best for describing a person's character, personality, or lifestyle as down to earth and humble.
Phang Weng Kiong 潘永强 was born in 1958 in Singapore. His ancestral origin is Nanhai, Guangdong province. He studied at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and taught there previously. He studied Chinese ink painting under the tutelage of both Master Nai Swee Leng and Master Koh Mun Hong. In addition to Chinese ink painting, Weng Kiong also learnt calligraphy from Master Koh.

TOGETHER - Art Exhibition in support of the President’s Challenge 2026
This is the third edition of the largest fund-raising exhibition by Singaporean artists for beneficiaries supported by the President's Challenge (PC). President's Challenge 2026 will support 121 programmes across 60 organisations to drive sustained social upliftment in Singapore.
50% of all sales proceeds will be donated to the President's Challenge; tax deductions will be available where applicable. Donors will be invited to the "Donor Appreciation Ceremony" to receive a certificate of appreciation from the Guest-of-Honour.
