Lim Tze Peng (1921–2025) is an iconic figure in Singapore’s art history, revered for his pioneering contributions in Chinese ink painting and calligraphy. A self-taught artist and educator, he was renowned for his modern "muddled" calligraphy . Lim’s art has been showcased internationally, including the prestigious Saatchi Gallery and the Grand Palais. He was the first Singaporean artist to hold solo exhibitions at the National Art Museum of China and Liu Haisu Art Museum. For his exceptional contributions to Singapore’s visual arts, the late Lim Tze Peng was awarded the Cultural Medallion in 2003 and Distinguished Service Order (Posthumous).
