This is a 1971 oil painting of fishermen at work by second generation Nanyang artist Koeh Sia Yong. In the 1970s, Koeh made frequent sketching trips to Terrenganu and Malaysia with members of the Equator Art Society. He would portray the lives of labourers in farms and fishing villages through his paintings in his signature style of social realism.
